With approximately 13,896 attendees, more than 100 presenters, seven international pavilions and 300 participating companies, over the course of four days EXPO COMM MEXICO 2008 offered a broad range of top-shelf Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions, as well as the latest industry news for 2008.
Once again, EXPO COMM MEXICO was the country's most important business forum for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry, bringing together the industry's main experts and leaders, such as Luis Téllez Kuenzler, the Secretary of Communications and Transportation; Héctor Osuna Jaime, president of the Federal Telecommunications Commission, and the presidents of Mexico's major chambers and associations like CANITEC, CANIETI, ANATEL, AMITI, AMIPCI and CIAPEM.
During the event, the major trends and proposals of 2008 were discussed, such as the bid process for APRA quad band, cellular telephone and high-speed Internet services (Wi-Max), auctioning of mobile service frequencies, and more. At the conference it was also announced that in July 2009, Mexico will be the first country in Latin America to implement numeric portability.
Alejandro Puente, president of CANITEC, said that EXPO COMM MEXICO 2008 is the ideal space for analyzing the different viewpoints of the industry, which has been the most dynamic sector of Mexico's economy for a long time.
CANITEC's leader concluded that the success of EXPO COMM MEXICO 2008 was a sure thing. "Making the vision of the future that is presented year after year here at EXPO COMM a reality in Mexico is a goal that we should all seek."

This article is aimed at answering how and why Mexico is going green and how and why the information and communications technology (ICT) industry is one of the key players in this change.
It discusses a series of initiatives that are contributing to the improvement of the environment and its preservation. Although these initiatives are not well-known as of yet, they have prompted the establishment of an Advisory Council that will recognize and publicize them on an annual basis through the Green Comm Award, in conjunction with E.J. Krause as the organizer.
